WCTGives ‘Golden Harvest’ Community Outreach Programme Impacted 150 Underprivileged Families in Klang
22 February 2024
WCTGives recently materialised its ‘Golden Harvest’ Community Outreach Programme in conjunction with the Chinese New Year celebration, which benefitted 150 underprivileged families in Klang.

In partnership with Pasar Grub and Grace Community Services, 300 food packs comprising fresh vegetables and fruits as well as dried goods were distributed, spreading joy and hope in conjunction with the festive season. This meaningful collaboration with Pasar Grub and Grace Community Services not only reduces food waste through the purchase of surplus goods from farms or distributors, but allows WCT to participate in a circular ecosystem, supporting local businesses while contributing to the marginalised sectors of the community, including the urban poor and the elderly.

The programme has garnered the participation of 14 WCT employee volunteers, who signed up to aid in the distribution of the food packs.

WCT employee volunteers worked as a team to unload food packs from PasarGrub’s truck and distributed them to the beneficiaries.

Through WCT's partnership with PasarGrub to source fresh surplus items for 150 underprivileged families, the Group has successfully aided an equivalent of 600 individuals. This initiative has also resulted in the rescue of 2,480 kg of nutritious produce and 4.712 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent reduction: on waste alone from production to consumption.
