PETALING JAYA: The Construction Industry Development Board of Malaysia (CIDB) celebrated the outstanding contributions of 70 distinguished industry players at the Malaysian Construction Industry Excellence Awards (MCIEA) 2024.

This year, IAQ Solutions Sdn Bhd took home the Builder of The Year award, notably for their work on the Robert Bosch Testing Manufacturing Plant.

Originating as a clean room specialist in 1994, the company has grown into a full-service provider for high-stakes industries, excelling in advanced environmental control solutions.

The Prominent Player Award was bestowed upon Tan Sri Lim Keng Cheng, chairman of Lim Seong Hai Capital Bhd, in recognition of his transformative impact on Malaysia''s construction sector for more than 30 years, marked by innovative leadership and dedication to corporate social responsibility.

The International Achievement Award honours WCT Bhd for their successful execution of the Lusail Development Project in Doha, transforming 38sq km into a premier urban area, including the infrastructure surrounding the Lusail Stadium, which was the site of the 2022 FIFA World Cup final.

The company efficiently managed comprehensive project components, such as roadways, parking and utilities, plus architectural and technical aspects of substations and LRT stations.

Organised by CIDB, the MCIEA 2024 Awards held on Monday night recognised individuals and organisations that have led the way in innovation, quality and excellence within the construction sector.

Since the MCIEA has not been held for the last four years, this year''s edition saw the inclusion of more than one recipient and a special mention to be recognised in each category as deemed fit by the jury panel and final decision by the judges.

The rigorous and transparent judging process involved multiple rounds of review by 40 assessors and a panel of six distinguished industry experts.

CIDB''s chief executive, Datuk Sr Mohd Zaid Zakaria, said: “The MCIEA awards are not just about celebrating success: they represent the strength, spirit and relentless pursuit of excellence that define our industry. Every project submitted and every innovation implemented is a step towards a better-built Malaysia for future generations.

Over the recent years, the sector has been overcoming obstacles, adapting to evolving requirements and implementing new technologies.

“The pandemic brought an unparalleled disruption, but it also brought opportunities to transform and reinvent,” he added.
