WCT’s Sustainability Goals
In line with the Group’s purpose of “Building Sustainable and Thriving Communities”, our Group’s sustainability framework is centered around our sustainability goals of Empowering People, Protecting the Environment, Enhancing Livelihood and Embracing Responsible and Fair Business Practice. These, alongside a set of targets and commitments towards 2030 help form our foundation and gradual advancement towards achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
Empowering People
People are our utmost priority. We endeavour to enhance our employees' wellbeing by providing them with a conducive, favourable and healthy working environment, advanced personal growth and development. We embark on our journey in promoting diversity, equality, and inclusion while enhancing positive direct and indirect human rights impacts in all that we do.
Protecting the Environment
WCT is committed to preserve and conserve our environment. This includes avoiding and minimising pollution, waste as well as biodiversity loss from all our activities. We will continue with our effort in conserving water, energy, and materials through the use of renewable sources. We also aim to progressively minimise GHG emissions from our business conduct.
Enhancing Livelihood
Seeing the livelihoods of our people as a business imperative, we aspire to enhance the wellbeing of our local communities while continuing the effort of contributing economically to our stakeholders.
Embracing Responsible and Fair Business Practice
Conducting a responsible and fair business practice has always been our core principle here at WCT. In ensuring ethical business conduct, we make sure to respect individual privacy and treat personal data with due care.
WCT Group 2023 Sustainability Achievements
At WCT, our sustainability efforts are guided by solid governance with the Group Sustainability Committee overseeing the implementation of the Group’s sustainability strategy. Our sustainability disclosures are supported by year-on-year data tracking with an understanding of our value chains and business processes and the impact of our material matters on our stakeholders.

WCT-CCCC Joint Venture to set up Building Information (BIM) Lab in University Malaysia Sabah (UMS) as part of an Industry Collaboration Programme (ICP).
WCT_Cares_for_Mother_Earth
The Maple Residences, WCity OUG at Kuala Lumpur was awarded the GreenRE Bronze Certificate. The certification was granted to The Maple Residences, having taken into consideration aspects such as Energy Efficiency, Water Efficiency and Environmental Protection, paving the way for the Property Development Division in achieving its sustainability goals and targets.
Pavilion Mont’ Kiara in Kuala Lumpur was awarded the provisional GreenRE Silver certification in the Residential Category by GreenRE Sdn Bhd. Key green features that qualify the project include the installation of coloured glass, solar panels, rainwater harvesting systems, recycled materials such as Green Cement and integration of Industrialised Building System (IBS).
Company of The Year Award under the Engineering, Construction and Property Development category 2022
WCT successfully invested approximately RM160,000.00 to fund a research collaboration with Monash University, which focused on studying asphalt milling materials as replacement of virgin aggregates in roadbase layers. The research resulted in the publication of a research paper in 2022.
WCT collaborates with University Malaysia Sabah to drive industrial research collaboration on harvesting solar energy to produce hydrogen from seawater.
FTSE Russell (the trading name of FTSE International Limited and Frank Russell Company) confirms that WCT Holdings Berhad has been independently assessed according to the FTSE4Good criteria, and has satisfied the requirements to become a constituent of the FTSE4Good Index Series. Created by the global index provider FTSE Russell, the FTSE4Good Index Series is designed to measure the performance of companies demonstrating strong Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) practices. The FTSE4Good indices are used by a wide variety of market participants to create and assess responsible investment funds and other products.”

WCT pledges to strike a balance between profitability and doing good - bringing equal value to its businesses and society through the three main tenets - #WeCareTogether, #AGreenerTomorrow and #EducationForAll. Follow us on our journey to make the world a better place through our #WCTGives initiatives. The programme has impacted over 680 beneficiaries including B40 families and women, underprivileged senior citizens, and students with a total investment of RM 326,007.79 since its launch at the end of 2022.

In 2024, WCT joined forces with DOE Selangor and other strategic partners in planting mangrove trees as part of the #AGreenerTomorrow tenet. 1,000 trees were planted, 600 of which were contributed by WCT.

Sustainability Statement 2023

The Sustainability Statement 2023 for the financial year ended 31 December 2023 provides a comprehensive account of WCT’s ongoing sustainability journey, for our stakeholders – detailing the Group’s continued progress in improving its sustainability performance. The disclosures provided in the statement encompass economic, environmental and social information on our contribution to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
