WCT in a joint venture with Al-Ali Projects Co (W.L.L) was awarded a contract worth RM1.3 billion by Lusail Real Estate Development Company for Lusail Development Project in Doha, Qatar to undertake the civil works for the 38 square kilometre master-planned urban development.
The works undertaken by WCT included the construction of roads from 1.2km and 11km in length, 4 underground carparks that fit approximately 2,264 cars and 187 motorcycles, wet and dry utilities such as highways, infrastructure as well as Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing (MEP) works inside the carpark. On top of that, WCT was also involved in the construction of four LRT stations and four substations, as well as network cables of 415V, 11KV and 66KV laid between 0.95km and 27.06km, and street light cables with total length of 20.48km. Completed in 2021, the project features residential, entertainment and commercial districts including the world-class Lusail Stadium that hosted the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
WCT was honoured with the CIDB Malaysian Construction Industry Excellence Awards 2024 – International Achievement Award for its pivotal contribution to the completion of the Lusail Development Project.
