WCT Berhad was awarded a main contract work by the Ministry of Transport Malaysia to undertake and execute for the Proposed Extension and Upgrading of Sultan Ismail Petra Airport, Pengkalan Chepa, Kota Bharu, Kelantan, Malaysia. 

The scope of works encompasses the building works, landside infrastructure works, airside infrastructure works and all engineering works for the design, construction, supply, installation, completion, testing, commissioning and maintenance of the existing Sultan Ismail Petra Airport.

The project comprised the construction of the terminal building with a dedicated VIP lounge, 26 check-in counters, a baggage handling system, a multi-storey car park, the Airport Fire and Rescue Service and Air Disaster Unit, the Customs, Cargo and Aviation Security building, two Central Utility Buildings, the MET Quarters, the taxi operations building, substations, and a DVOR guard house. Supporting structures included covered walkways, parking areas, perimeter fencing and utility enhancements. Phase 1 was completed in May 2024, with the airport becoming fully operational in March 2026.
