WCT undertook 49% of the total contract to design and construct the Hamad International Airport, formerly known as the New Doha International Airport in Doha, Qatar which includes an airfield facility with 2 runways, 3 parallel taxiways, aircraft parking aprons, tunnels and detention ponds. The structure also included the construction of a 1km dual 3-lane midfield access tunnel consisting of twin cells with a dimension of 20m by 5.5m per cell. Completed in 2012, Hamad International Airport is the second largest airport in the region after Dubai, with a capacity to welcome 93 million passengers per year.
