The Ascent, Paradigm PJ Achieves GreenRE Gold Certification, Strengthening WCT’s Sustainable Office Portfolio

PETALING JAYA, 18 JUNE 2026 – The Ascent, Paradigm PJ, a 32-storey Grade-A corporate office tower developed and managed by WCT Land Sdn Bhd, the property development, investment and management division of WCT Holdings Berhad, has been awarded the GreenRE Gold certification under the Non-Residential Building category in early 2026. The recognition marks a significant sustainability milestone for WCT’s office portfolio and reflects the enhancement of a 10-year-old asset through improvements in energy management, water efficiency, indoor environmental quality, and responsible building operations.
 
Conferred by GreenRE, the certification recognises buildings with strong environmental performance across key sustainability pillars, including energy The Asindoor environmental quality. At The Ascent, these efforts included energy management policies and a medium-term energy-saving plan, LED lighting upgrades in common areas, energy-efficient lift operations, indoor air quality audits and management in compliance with requirements set by the Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH), as well as water monitoring through sub-metering systems. Recycling and waste segregation facilities were also put in place, while naturally ventilated elevated car parks and office spaces designed to maximise external views contribute to greater energy efficiency, occupant comfort, and well-being.
 
The recognition reflects WCT Holdings Berhad’s broader commitment to sustainable development across its property portfolio. It also aligns with Malaysia’s sustainability agenda under the 12th Malaysia Plan, which sets the nation’s aspiration to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. As businesses place greater emphasis on Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) practices, green-certified office buildings are becoming more important for organisations seeking environmentally responsible workplaces.
 
Commenting on the recognition, Dato’ Lee Tuck Fook, Group Managing Director of WCT Holdings Berhad, said the achievement reflects the Group’s commitment to integrating sustainable design principles into urban development.

WCT Land has set a target to obtain green building certification for all new developments, excluding affordable housing, from 2025 onwards, meeting or exceeding the minimum Bronze rating under GreenRE. Achieving GreenRE Gold for The Ascent demonstrates that sustainability is not limited to new developments. By enhancing an existing asset, we are extending the building’s lifecycle, improving operational efficiency, and reinforcing our commitment to responsible property development.”

In addition to The Ascent, several developments by WCT Land have also achieved GreenRE certification. Among the recent projects, Aras Residences and Pavilion Mont’ Kiara were awarded provisional GreenRE Silver certification, while The Maple Residences achieved GreenRE Bronze certification and Adison Serviced Apartments received provisional GreenRE Bronze certification.
 
These recognitions reflect WCT’s continued efforts to embed sustainability across the design, construction, and operational phases of its developments, in line with the Group’s long-term strategy to deliver environmentally responsible projects that create lasting value for tenants, investors, and communities.
